2020 Spring Season Canceled

Dear ECYB Players, Coaches, and Families,

The Board of Directors met last night and voted unanimously to officially cancel the 2020 Spring Season. We collectively held hope that we would be able to play meaningful games at some point this season, but with the local shelter-in-place extended at least through the end of May, it became impossible for us to see a way to safely, smartly play baseball.

We appreciate all of you who patiently waited with us. We know that most of you shared our hope of playing ball this spring, and we know that even in the short time we had together, friendships were made among the teams that were formed. Some coaches have still been sending out emails and videos to their teams with the hope of staying in "game shape" for the re-opening of the fields.

The league will be issuing refund checks to everyone who has paid their registration fees. We are currently calculating the unrecoverable costs that the league has spent on this year (eg. field permits, registration fees, insurance), but we plan to return the majority of the registration fees and all of the volunteer deposits.

We will send out info later about collecting uniforms from Mustang through Pony divisions, as well as collecting equipment from managers.

The Bay Area has seemingly done an excellent job of flattening the curve of Covid-19, and the situation continues to change. If it looks like the shelter-in-place will lift this summer, and if the fields are available, we will look to offer a summer program for any kids that are interested. Please stay tuned as we work out the possibilities. Otherwise, we certainly hope to see everyone back on the field for Opening Day 2021.
